MICROBLADING FOR CANCER SURVIVORS - PLEASE DONATE!

I’m Antoinette Haynes, a professional esthetician based in Greensboro, N.C. and owner of Serenity Suite Skin Care. My mission is to make people feel good about themselves. “Look good, feel good,” is my motto.

I want to become certified in microblading, a technique that involves using a special tool to create hair-like strokes for a more beautiful and fuller-looking brow. It’s a permanent tattoo that lasts up to two years, and depending on each skin type, healing from the procedure requires different lengths of time.  The procedure can be performed on those who want an aesthetically, well-defined brow, but my motivation for pursuing the certification goes much deeper. I want to provide the service to cancer survivors who have lost their eyebrows due to chemotherapy.

I’ve never been diagnosed cancer, but as a volunteer for the Look Good Feel Better program at Cone Health Cancer Center, I’ve witnessed the devastation of hair loss and the effects of cancer treatments on the skin and general appearance. For the past four years, I’ve been volunteering for the program, providing skin care and beauty tips to cancer survivors to help them feel better about themselves; just letting them know they are beautiful and strong.

While I continue to grow my business, I'm pursuing my microblading certification. I will offer free microblading services for five cancer survivors each month. (Microblading on average costs $300-$500.) Adding this new line of work to my current services means that new expenses must be covered:

-$3,000 course + certification

-$1100 license to practice

-$1400 insurance and inspection

-$1200+ machine and ink, repairs and replacement parts

-$800 for salon renovations

Any support you show means the world to me, and I thank you for helping me reach my certification goal!
